Hello. I'm Carys Lloyd. I am based in Denbigh in North Wales and I work with adults and young people to support their emotional wellbeing. I work integratively, which means that I have access to a toolbox full of therapeutic techniques and psychological theories developed through my professional training and experience. There are many interventions for people suffering with emotional difficulties but the one thing I hear time and time again from clients of all ages is, "Thank you for listening to me." Human beings thrive on connection and because it is so important for us to feel listened to, seen and appreciated for who we are, I place huge importance on building a solid therapeutic relationship with my clients. I provide the time, space and safety to really receive your individual experience and to bear witness to whatever thoughts and feelings you may bring to our sessions. This then allows us to work together to facilitate change on an emotional, cognitive and behavioural level.
How I have filled my toolbox
- Child Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in advanced clinical training.
- Certified Coach (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
- Extensive training in building resilience and good mental health, including advanced clinical training in developmental trauma, attachment, self harm, shame, development of the self, bereavement and grief, advanced projective techniques (art, embodied practice/dance/movement, play) and family therapy.
- Over 6 years experience volunteering and working with children’s services supporting children, young people and families.
- Qualified teacher with over 20 years experience of working with adults, adolescents and children.
- Enhanced DBS.
- Fully insured.
- Senior member of ACCPH.
- Trainee member of UKCP.
- Safeguarding Certification.
- I ensure best practise by engaging in regular clinical supervision.
How we work together
When you get in touch we'll arrange an initial 30 minute consultation session. This will be an exploratory chat, as a first step towards working together. The speed of results will depend on the issues we're working on. Sometimes change can happen quickly and sometimes more gradually, over a longer period of time, so we would usually commit to working for a minimum of 6 sessions at the outset with any further sessions being booked on a week to week basis. I work mainly face to face from a quiet, private room in Denbigh and I also work online with adolescent and adult clients.
